Ou\u0103le de Toxocara sunt prezente \u00een fecalele animalelor infectate \u0219i, odat\u0103 ajunse \u00een mediu, devin infec\u021bioase \u00een decurs de 2 p\u00e2n\u0103 la 4 s\u0103pt\u0103m\u00e2ni. Oamenii sunt gazde accidentale \u0219i se infecteaz\u0103 pe cale oral\u0103<sup>1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>De\u0219i mai pu\u021bin frecvente, indivizii pot avea toxocariaz\u0103 \u0219i consum\u00e2nd carne crud\u0103 de la animalele infectate. Dup\u0103 ingestie, ou\u0103le de Toxocara eclozeaz\u0103 \u0219i larvele sunt eliberate, iar acestea pot p\u0103trunde \u00een peretele intestinal, ajung \u00een fluxul sanguin \u0219i pot migra c\u0103tre diferite \u021besuturi (de exemplu, ficat, inim\u0103, pl\u0103m\u00e2ni, creier, mu\u0219chi, ochi). De\u0219i larvele Toxocara nu sufer\u0103 nicio dezvoltare ulterioar\u0103 \u00een aceste locuri, ele pot provoca reac\u021bii inflamatorii locale severe care stau la baza toxocariazei<sup>1-3<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00cen timp ce majoritatea persoanelor infectate nu prezint\u0103 niciun simptom, cele dou\u0103 prezent\u0103ri clinice primare ale toxocariazei sunt larva migrant\u0103 visceral\u0103 (toxocariaza visceral\u0103) \u0219i larva migrant\u0103 ocular\u0103 (toxocariaza ocular\u0103)<sup>4<\/sup>. Manifest\u0103rile toxocariazei reflect\u0103 sarcina parazitar\u0103, r\u0103spunsul imun \u0219i inflama\u021bia rezultat\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>Simptomele larvei migrante pot fi caracterizate de sindromul Loffler (febr\u0103, tuse, respira\u021bie \u0219uier\u0103toare, dureri abdominale), hepatomegalie, eozinofilie sau probleme oculare ireversibile. Rar, larvele migreaz\u0103 c\u0103tre sistemul nervos central, provoc\u00e2nd meningoencefalit\u0103 eozinofil\u0103 sau duc\u00e2nd la formarea de granulom. Larvele pot migra \u0219i p\u0103trunde la nivel ocular, rezult\u00e2nd toxocariaz\u0103 ocular\u0103, care poate duce la cicatrizarea retinei, sc\u0103derea vederii \u0219i leucocorie<sup>5,6<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Un studiu recent al seroprevalen\u021bei Toxocara din Statele Unite a ar\u0103tat c\u0103 aproximativ 5% din popula\u021bia SUA este infectat\u0103 cu Toxocara. La nivel global, toxocariaza se g\u0103se\u0219te \u00een multe \u021b\u0103ri, iar ratele de prevalen\u021b\u0103 pot ajunge p\u00e2n\u0103 la 40%, \u00een special \u00een regiunile tropicale unde ou\u0103le r\u0103m\u00e2n viabile \u00een sol. Copiii \u0219i adolescen\u021bii cu v\u00e2rsta sub 20 de ani, precum \u0219i proprietarii de c\u00e2ini, prezint\u0103 un risc mai mare de infec\u021bie<sup>7,8<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Diagnosticul infec\u021biilor cu Toxocara implic\u0103 ob\u021binerea unui istoric clinic \u0219i de expunere relevant \u0219i se bazeaz\u0103 pe detectarea anticorpilor \u00eempotriva speciilor Toxocara.
