Shigatoxigenic \u00eempreun\u0103 cu Escherichia coli verotoxigen (STEC), (VTEC) sunt tulpini de E. coli despre care se \u0219tie c\u0103 produc toxin\u0103 Shiga \u0219i, respectiv, toxina asem\u0103n\u0103toare Shiga (verotoxina). Tulpinile care provoac\u0103 afec\u021biuni la om sunt cunoscute \u00een mod obi\u0219nuit ca fiind E. coli enterohemoragic (EHEC)<sup>1-3<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>EHEC serotipul O157:H7 este un agent patogen uman considerat responsabil pentru focarele de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.synevo.ro\/sindromul-diareic-forme-de-diaree\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">diaree<\/a>\u00a0\u0219i sindromul hemolitic uremic la nivel mondial. Infec\u021biile cauzate de E. coli O157:H7 variaz\u0103 de la asimptomatice la severe<sup>4<\/sup>. Pu\u021bini indivizi pot dezvolta complica\u021bii poten\u021bial fatale, cum ar fi sindromul hemolitic uremic. Patologia renal\u0103 cronic\u0103 poate persista uneori printre cei care supravie\u021buiesc.<\/p>\n<p>EHEC se manifest\u0103 clinic prin prezen\u021ba scaunului diareic sanguinolent, f\u0103r\u0103 febr\u0103 \u0219i, de obicei, cu un num\u0103r de leucocite de peste 10.000\/microL uneori asociat cu dureri abdominale. Perioada de incuba\u021bie, de la expunerea la EHEC \u0219i apari\u021bia simptomelor, este de obicei de 3 p\u00e2n\u0103 la 4 zile<sup>5,6<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Se \u0219tie c\u0103 oamenii dob\u00e2ndesc E. coli O157:H7 \u00een mai multe moduri, de exemplu, prin consumul de alimente \u0219i ap\u0103 contaminate \u0219i contact direct cu animale \u0219i oameni infecta\u021bi. Consumul de alimente contaminate, cum ar fi carnea de vit\u0103, produse lactate \u0219i produse proaspete sunt responsabile pentru majoritatea focarelor.
