Se estimeaz\u0103 c\u0103 4 p\u00e2n\u0103 la 5 milioane de cazuri de infec\u021bie cu streptococ de grup A apar numai \u00een Statele Unite \u00een fiecare an. Este extrem de frecvent\u0103 la copii, mai ales \u00eentre 5 \u0219i 12 ani<sup>1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>O serie de antigene bacteriene au fost identificate \u00een culturi de streptococi de grup A. Ace\u0219ti produ\u0219i extracelulari sunt \u00een primul r\u00e2nd proteine \u200b\u200benzimatice \u0219i includ streptolizina O, streptokinaza, hialuronidaz\u0103, dezoxiribonucleaze \u0219i nicotinamid\u0103 adenin nucleotidaza<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Ceea ce diferen\u021biaz\u0103 infec\u021biile cu streptococ de grup A de alte afec\u021biuni comune ale copil\u0103riei este poten\u021bialul de apari\u021bie a unor sechele grave, cum ar fi febra reumatic\u0103 acut\u0103 (RAA) \u0219i glomerulonefrita acut\u0103, post infec\u021bie streptococic\u0103 tratat\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>Infec\u021biile cu streptococi de grup A sunt unice deoarece pot fi urmate de complica\u021biile grave nonpurulente ale febrei reumatice \u0219i ale glomerulonefritei. Informa\u021biile recente sugereaz\u0103 c\u0103 febra reumatic\u0103 este asociat\u0103 cu infec\u021bia cu anumite serotipuri reumatogene (M1, M3, M5, M6, M18 \u0219i M19), \u00een timp ce glomerulonefrita urmeaz\u0103 infec\u021biei cu serotipurile nefritogene (M2, M12, M49, M57, M59 \u0219i M560)<sup>3<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Glomerulonefrita \u0219i febra reumatismal\u0103 apar \u00een urma infec\u021biei, dup\u0103 o perioad\u0103 de laten\u021b\u0103 \u00een urma infec\u021biei, timp \u00een care pacientul este asimptomatic.
